Our tendency towards inaction (Part 2)

It's been nearly a year since my last post. As is ever the case, there is a tendency towards inaction. It's fascinating to note that if I had committed to writing one blog post per day from the end of my 100-day challenge till now, I would have written close to 1,000 posts and 500,000 words. That's half a million words.

I said before writing a blog post every day is not for me, but I still believe that I want and should continue to write. And so, here I am.

In the context of my previous post, I didn't schedule any time for writing, and there were no visible reminders. Let me take a first step by doing the minimum effective dose, in the form of this post.

To be clear, I don't have anything particularly insightful to share right at this very moment. Actually, I think that was part of the reason why updates have not been forthcoming. I may have subconsciously thought that I needed to say something meaningful - to make a post worthwhile.

And that goes back to the questions: why do I write, and who am I writing for? I suppose I did say in the beginning that I want my posts to offer something of value to others - especially those who are earlier in their life journeys than I am. This may be a bit ambitious, and a writer's block of sorts. Ultimately, maybe I like to write because it organizes my thoughts, and creates a snapshot of these thoughts at a point in my own journey. Perhaps any altruistic motive is secondary.

Why not just write when I feel like it? Why do posts have to be a certain length, or have a point worth sharing? How do we define what's worth sharing, anyway?

Anyway. I truly hope to write more in the coming days. To support this, I've added it as an item on my phone's to-do list.

(And my sincerest apologies to anyone who read this post, expecting something of substance. 😄)
